Car Free Day 2019 – Norwich

Event Date: 22/09/19

Norwich will be joining more than 2,000 cities across 46 countries to champion Car Free Day.  on Sunday 22 September.

More than just about reducing car use for one day of the year, the worldwide event aims to raise awareness and promote the use of sustainable transport options – walking, cycling and using public transport where possible, or pooling and sharing car journeys, where practical.

In Norwich, we love walking and cycling. In 2018, figures showed that 23.8 per cent of people in Norwich walk to work – against a national average of 10.9 per cent; and 9.5 per cent cycle, which is more than three times the national average at 3.1 per cent. The number of people cycling is up 40 per cent since 2013.
