Disposing of Litter Picks at Norfolk’s Recycling Centres

You can bring up to three bags of litter to one of our Recycling Centres  after completing our online form. We can only accept litter collected from public land and it must be bagged. Cans and glass can be separated for recycling.

If you are carrying out a litter pick, please always consider safety first Keep Britain Tidy have some useful information.

If you are a community group planning a litter pick or you are collecting in excess of three bags, you should contact your city, borough or district council to make arrangements in advance (details are below).

Litter brought to Recycling Centres must NOT contain any of the following;
• Bagged dog waste or other animal waste
• Liquid waste
• Gas canisters, Nitrous Oxide canisters or other hazardous waste

We can not accept large items or fly tipping, please report all fly tipping through your district council.

Join a Clear-Up Group

Local groups play a large part in organising clean ups and other environmental events.

Some examples of groups that are active at keeping Norfolk clean are Norfolk Beach CleansSurfers Against Sewage and Pure Clean Earth, which run regular beach and community clear ups.

There are lots of other local groups who would be happy for you to join them.

Larger Organised Litter Picks

Local councils can offer advice and information as well as equipment such as: hi-viz vests, litter pick sticks, hoops and sacks (if needed) from your local council.  They can also arrange collection of the rubbish following your litter pick.
