More household hazardous waste days announced at Norfolk’s recycling centres

Norfolk County Council has announced a new series of household hazardous waste days this autumn, offering residents the opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted hazardous materials at seven recycling centres across the county.

The autumn events will take place on the following dates:

  • Norwich South – Friday 3 & Saturday 4 October
  • King’s Lynn – Friday 10 & Saturday 11 October
  • Caister – Friday 24 & Saturday 25 October
  • Dereham – Friday 31 October & Saturday 1 November
  • Thetford – Friday 7 & Saturday 8 November
  • Hempton – Friday 21 & Saturday 22 November
  • Norwich North – Friday 28 & Saturday 29 November

As with the spring events, the Council will use the recycling centres’ booking system to manage demand and ensure smooth operations. A separate booking calendar will be available for the hazardous waste events, and regular household waste bookings will be suspended at hosting centres during these events. Bookings can be made online or by phone and will be open a week before each event.

The last round of events, held in spring 2025, saw:

  • 296,166 kg of hazardous materials safely disposed
  • 6,795 bookings completed
  • An average of 47.13 kg of waste per customer
  • Paint as the most commonly received hazardous material
