Sea Changers look to give out record breaking number of grants in 2024
2024 has been a hectic year at Sea-Changers HQ as we have awarded a fantastic total of 43 grants to projects right around the British Isles, in the first half of the year. The awards have been made under four funding streams:
- Marine Conservation Social Fund
- Bunzl Coastal Water Fountain Fund
- Small Grants Fund
- Main Grants Fund. The latest round of Main Grant awards has just been announced.
Demand for these funding streams continues to be high and our evaluation panels have had a tough time choosing between some amazing projects. We thank them for all their hard work in assessing applications with such diligence and care.
It’s a far cry from when we first started. In 2012 Sea-Changers awarded our first ever grant and it was the only one we paid out that year. Since then the number of grant awards has steadily increased as our funding capacity has also increased. From having one funding stream, our Main Grants fund, we are now able to offer five distinct streams. This includes, the just launched (and already popular), Scottish Learning Fund.
This progress from one grant in 2012 to 43 grants to date in 2024 is very satisfying….but we are not ones to rest on our laurels. In this Olympic year we’d love to break our own record. Our best year so far was in 2022, when we paid out 68 grants. We are on track to beat that total but we’d love your help to bring it home!
