Statement from the Norfolk Waste Partnership on the Government’s Resources and Waste Strategy 18th December 2018

Cllr John Fisher, Chairman of the Norfolk Waste Partnership, said: “The Norfolk Waste Partnership welcomes this ambitious Government strategy.

“It supports much of the good work already happening here in Norfolk by residents, businesses and local authorities and gives us clear direction on where to go next to further improve our performance.

“The strategy sets out radical proposals for how large producers could help meet costs of recycling their product packaging and there is a strengthening focus on the reduction of food waste.

“This is something we support in Norfolk through initiatives such as our network of Community Fridges and the Plan Eat Save and Food Savvy projects

“We are also happy with the strategy’s proposed action on waste crime, ahead of the launch of an anti-fly tipping campaign here in Norfolk.

“The Partnership is pleased to see proposals included in the strategy to help consumers make better choices when buying things and extend the life of them through reuse and repair.

“We look forward to the consultations on the detail, which are expected early next year.”
