#TravellersCheck your fridge & save food and holiday money!
Summer holidays are upon us. Your bags are packed, your out of office is ON, but is the fridge still half full?
Cucumbers, cheese, a bag of leaves… don’t leave them home alone. We’ve teamed up with Hubbub to put together tips to help you get friendly with your freezer – you’ll be surprised at how many different foods will freeze up ice-ly!
You could consider cooking and freezing a homecoming meal. No time to cook? Sharing is caring and helps reduce food waste too, over 80% of us would be happy to take food from a neighbour going on holiday, and the downloadable postcard on the Hubbub website can help you get in the community spirit. There might even be a community fridge nearby, you can find your nearest here.
Research commissioned by environmental charity Hubbub shows that households across the UK throw away £½ billion worth of edible food when heading off on holiday each year, and £12 million worth of food ends up in the bin in the first week of the school holidays.
Hubbub has teamed up with Samsung to offer a fantastic fridge as a prize for the best #TravellersCheck campaign photo. To enter, simply make yourself a homecoming meal for the freezer or gift some surplus food in your community. Take a snap of your #TravellersCheck, follow @HelloHubbub on Instagram and share the picture. If you don’t use Instagram, no problem. Email your picture to firstname.lastname@example.org.
