What does it cost?

You can dispose of some DIY waste for free. This applies to small-scale projects carried out by the householders on their own home.

You have to pay to take larger amounts.

Find out about DIY waste allowances and costs on the Norfolk County Council website.

Paint

Paint is a hazardous waste and must be disposed of properly. You can follow our advice to dispose of it at home.

  • Unwanted paint can be dried out:
    • Leave it in the sun with the lid removed,
    • Use cat litter, soil, wood shavings or sand to mix with the paint and let dry
  • Empty and dry tins can go in your rubbish bin at home

Paint is accepted at any Norfolk recycling centre hazardous waste event.

Thinking of hiring a waste carrier?

A waste carrier is someone you pay to get rid of your rubbish.

You might consider paying a waste carrier to dispose of your DIY rubbish. You should always check that your rubbish is not going to be fly tipped.
