Recycling at Christmas

How you can recycle your Christmas waste.

At Christmas, once you've used all the smellies in your gift sets, don't forget about the packaging. From aerosols to shampoo bottles, perfume bottles and the cardboard boxes - you can recycle them all!

Whether you're stuffing stockings or treating yourself, give packaging a second life. Recycle one more thing at Christmas. Let the packaging begin the new year as something brand new.

The scrunch test

Do the scrunch test to ensure you put your old wrapping paper into the right bin at Christmas!

'Scrunch it to sort it' helps you work out if you can recycle wrapping paper. You cannot recycle paper which contains foil, glitter and lots of sticky tape. It needs to go in your rubbish bin.

To carry out the test, scrunch the wrapping paper in your hand.

If it stays scrunched in a ball, it can go in your recycling bin - with the sticky tape removed. If it bounces back you cannot recycle it and it needs to go in the rubbish bin. Simple.
