What is fly tipping?

You are fly tipping if you leave items:

  • Besides street bins and recycling banks
  • On the floor of communal bin areas
  • Outside closed recycling centres and charity shops
  • On highways, roads, paths, farmland and in the countryside
  • On pavements and verges
  • On publicly owned land, such as parks

How much waste is considered fly tipping?

Fly tipping can be a single item or bag. Or it can be:  

  • Lots of black bin bags 
  • Furniture 
  • Electrical goods
  • Rubble 
  • Timber
  • Mattresses 
  • Carpets
  • Hazardous materials like asbestos or chemicals
